Best Practise in Planning, Measuring and Reporting

Some of you may have seen the recent reports following the publication of results from a 'learning outcomes' survey conducted by KnowledgePool, a well respected UK training provider. The survey aimed to gather information about the transfer of learning to the workplace and performance improvement (in other words, ROI Level 3 application and implementation data).

Over a three year period, they collected over 10,000 responses using a generic questionnaire. Their focus was to gather data on the experience of respondents on the following:
Their conclusion: overall, the results are fairly positive on the downside, 25% of all training fails to deliver significant performance improvement.

For senior HR and L&D managers struggling to present the case for investment in workplace learning and development and for providers, these results will be disappointing and have the potential to undermine their case for continuing support.

The report has some very sensible recommendations:
Of course, the most important step to take is to improve planning for outcomes and to communicate this clearly ensuring everyone including the participants and their line managers know before they commence a programme what it is intended to change in terms of performance. More importantly for the employer is also ensuring in the planning stage that the performance change is intended to deliver business benefits and value for money!

If you would like to understand how others have implemented the best practices in planning, measuring and reporting performance improvement, business impact and value for money (ROI) data and would like to learn to do so, please contact us. We can help you make the case for investment that works for everyone that you invest in.

Our Methodology is not only the gold standard in professional practice, it is the one that serious professionals learn to apply through our UK recognised ladder of Edexcel accredited Awards which equate to a range of BTEC levels from 4-7 and also lead to the achievement of global ROI Institute Certification.
